Dr. Wilfred Kadewa is a renowned environmental and resource management specialist with over 20 years of professional experience in environmental management and development. He holds a PhD in Applied Environmental Sciences from Cranfield University (UK) and, has been a distinguished Associate Professor of Environmental Resources Management and the Executive Dean of the Ndata School of Climate and Earth Sciences at the Malawi University of Science and Technology, where he has been instrumental in shaping the institution's vision and mission. Previously, he served as the Dean for Faculty of Natural Resources at Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources.
Dr Wilfred Kadewa has a passion for promoting humanity's harmony with nature, and has worked extensively on various projects, including vulnerability assessments, environmental investment planning, waste management and water resources management, GHG emissions inventory and Emission Factor studies, One Health and also the development of Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) for Malawi. His expertise also extends to environmental and social impact assessments for various projects, State of Environment Outlook Reporting at national (NSEOR) and Global levels (GEO - Global Environmental Outlook).
Overall, Dr. Wilfred Kadewa is a distinguished environmental expert who has made significant contributions to the field of environmental management and sustainability in Malawi. His commitment to environmental management has inspired a new generation of scholars and practitioners.
Director General
Dr. Mazinga is a highly accomplished development planning and implementing expert with 15 plus years of experience. He holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Development Studies, Master of Arts in Development Studies, Master of Arts in Literature, Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy and Social Sciences, and a Diploma in Philosophy.
Aside his academic career with the University of Malawi, the Catholic University of Malawi and Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Dr Mazinga has also served in senior management positions at Women’s Legal Resources Centre (Wolrec), the Catholic Development Commission in Malawi (CADECOM), and the Malawi Millennium Development (MMD).
Dr. Juwo Lwesya Sibale holds a PhD in Environmental Sciences obtained from the University of Liverpool. In addition, she holds a Master’s Degree in Environment and Development from the University of Manchester and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Agriculture from Bunda College, University of Malawi.
Dr. Lwesya Sibale has extensive experience in both the Public Sector, NGO, and Donor Partners, having worked with the Environmental Affairs Department in the Ministry of Natural Resources and Climate Change, Canadian Physicians for Aid and Relief (CPAR), as well as the World Food Programme. She has worked in the Directorate of Environmental Assessment and Inspection for 20 years.
She is a seasoned environmental scientist and possesses a unique blend of excellent academic credentials, research and professional experience in Environmental Assessment and Inspection. This is coupled by her spirit of hard work, integrity and a high degree of innovativeness, which has enhanced a significant contribution towards the development of Environmental Assessment policy and regulatory framework as well as enforcement. She therefore brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to MEPA, which will propel the organisation into greater heights.
